The Lighthouse Construction Industry charity provides a 24/7 helpline for all construction workers and their families in the UK and Ireland. The helpline provides emergency financial aid to families in crisis, as well as advice on occupational health and mental wellbeing and support on legal, tax and debt management matters.
They receive no public funding and rely entirely on the generosity of those within in the industry to continue its vital work. Since 1956, Lighthouse has raised £16.5m to support more than 15,000 construction workers and their families who have been in need of emergency financial assistance
This will be the first time Tripod Crest has formally supported a charity. The charity initiative will be led by estimator Sophie Norville and all staff will be involved with fundraising, that will include sporting challenges, cake sales, curry nights with other sponsored events already planned.
Darren Stokes, managing director at Tripod Crest, comments: “The Lighthouse Club charity does fantastic work for the construction industry and is very fitting we support our own sector.”
Bill Hill, chief executive at Lighthouse Club commented on Tripod Crest’s pledged support: “We are honoured that Tripod Crest have chosen us for their charity partner this year and pledged to hold several Lighthouse Days to raise vital funds for us. Every year there are about 40 fatalities within the UK construction sector and more than 2,000 major injuries that leave workers incapacitated. These worrying statistics show that there is still much work to be done to make our industry a safer one and to make sure everyone gets home safely after the end of their working day. We can only do this with support from companies like Tripod Crest.”
